Description

Whole-Body Cryotherapy (WBC) is a wellness and therapeutic treatment in which a person is exposed to extremely cold temperatures—typically between −110°C to −140°C (−166°F to −220°F)—for a short period, usually 2–4 minutes.

During the session, the individual stands in a specially designed cryotherapy chamber or cabin while wearing minimal protective clothing (such as gloves, socks, and underwear) to protect sensitive areas. The intense cold stimulates the body’s natural responses, causing blood vessels to constrict and then rapidly dilate after the session, which may improve blood circulation.

Whole-body cryotherapy is commonly used to:

  • Reduce muscle soreness and inflammation

  • Support recovery after exercise or sports

  • Help relieve joint and muscle pain

  • Promote relaxation and a sense of well-being

  • Potentially improve sleep quality and energy levels

Although many people report positive effects, whole-body cryotherapy is considered a complementary therapy, and scientific evidence is still evolving. It should be performed under professional supervision, especially for individuals with medical conditions such as heart problems or cold sensitivity.
